How Maui Slowed the Sun
Infinite Eight have been lucky enough to work with the talented Mrs Tremain to create magnificent Maui and the Sun art work. The project has taken us more than two weeks to create and many different skills were used. We sketched, painted with brushes and stamps, cut things out, and glued parts down - serious artists in the making!
Measurement Mania!
Today the children in Infinite Eight learned the difference between Non-standard Units of Measure and Standard Units of Measure. The children came up with 10 different items we can use to measure things. We then grouped then into the correct category based on how accurate they are for measuring.

Te Manawa Trip 29th April 2015
Yesterday we embarked on our journey to Terrific Te Manawa. We were given so many opportunities to learn about the Sun and our wonderful solar system. From alien animations, to day and time activities, to even being the first class to experience the Solar System Expedition! We arrived back at school with many different questions to begin our research. We can't wait to get underway. A huge thank you to all the parents who supported our trip - we couldn't have gone without your help!

Poppy picking
Today we made our own version of the poppy flower which we learned represents the war heros who fought for our freedom. We wore them to our school ANZAC service. We will remember them.
Sharing War Stories
Today we brought special war artefacts from home to share with each other. We talked about our family members who had served in the war and stories of what ANZAC day means to us.

World War 1 photos
Letter writing and reading in the trench
After reading the story "Best Mates - Three lads who went to war together" by Philippa Werry and Bob Kerr, we imagined what it would have been like leaving our family to go overseas and fight in the war. We imagined the long journey and how brave the soldiers must have been to fight for their countries. It was difficult to do, but we took ourselves back to the year 1915 when the Australian and New Zealand soldiers went to war and we wrote letters to our families explaining our journey on board the ship and our first week in the trenches.
A day in the life of an ANZAC - Our Trench
This morning began with building our own trench. We learned that we would have been safer in a trench during World War 1 because it would have been harder for the enemy to gun us down.
